What is the measurement of one cubic foot (CuFt.)?
One cubic foot (CuFt.) is the measurement of 1 foot high, by 1 foot wide, by 1 foot long, or 12” by 12″ by 12″.
How many cubic feet (CuFt.) are in one cubic meter?
There are 35.2 CuFt. in one cubic meter.
Cargo Container Information
What type of cargo container do you use to pack and ship my household goods?
We offer different sizes of shipping containers, depending on your needs. The 20 foot and 40 foot shipping containers are the most common.
How do I know if I need a 20′ or 40′ shipping container?
The best way to figure out which size cargo container you need is to complete our free online freight quote. A twenty foot cargo container holds about 850 to 1050 cubic feet, and is usually enough space to fit a 1 to 2 bedroom household, or one vehicle with a few small household goods. A forty foot cargo container holds about 1,850 to 2,200 cubic feet, and is typically appropriate for moving 3 to 5 bedroom households, or 1 vehicle and a 2 bedroom household.
Overseas Shipping Basics
How much time in advance should I plan for overseas shipping?
You should allow a minimum of at least two weeks prior notice for booking international shipping.
Do you offer insurance for my international cargo?
Yes, we can help you with all of your insurance needs for international cargo shipping.
What is the best way to pack heavy things for overseas shipping?
Secure boxes with extra tape and pack heavier things in smaller boxes.
What is the best way to pack breakable items for overseas shipping?
Fragile items should be individually wrapped. Always pack bigger items on the bottom and smaller items on the top. Separate breakables with plenty of padding.
How can I protect larger items, like my furniture?
For larger items, including furniture, you can use moving blankets and plastic wrap to cover and protect the arms and legs of your pieces.
Can we put household items and personal goods in our vehicle that we are shipping overseas?
If your vehicle is being shipped in an exclusive 20 foot or 40 foot container, then you can put some boxes of household items in your vehicle, including the trunk. However, if you are using a roll on / roll off service to ship your vehicle, then your car has to be completely empty.
What items should NOT be shipped as international cargo?
- Pressurized spray cans
- Alcohol (in hand luggage only)
- Any flammable, hazardous, or toxic substances
- Perishable goods, such as food
- Open bottles containing liquids or other contents
- Fire arms (license required in some countries)
- Live plants or seeds (license required in some countries)
- Valuable and important papers such as family records, birth certificates, marriage documents, financial information, and other such documents.
How can I keep track of my international cargo during overseas shipping?
We offer our customers the ability to track shipments online by using our track shipments tool.
How can I arrange overseas shipping for my car?
Cars and other vehicles including motorcycles, tractors, trailers, RVs, and other machinery, can be shipped overseas as Roll On / Roll Off (Ro / Ro) or in a container. With Ro Ro services, your vehicle is driven on and off of the shipping vessel. Your vehicle can also be packed and shipped in a container, along with other items, if desired.
Who provides international cargo delivery service at my final destination?
We work with an extensive network of moving professionals that are available to assist in all functions of your overseas shipping, including customs clearance, transportation from the port to your final destination, and unpacking services.
